Saudi Arabia’s aviation sector recorded a landmark year in 2025, with airports handling over 140 million passengers, marking a 9.6 percent increase year on year, according to the General Authority of Civil Aviation (GACA). International connectivity expanded to 176 destinations worldwide, while total flight movements reached 980,400, reinforcing the Kingdom’s position as a leading global aviation hub.
Major airports drove this growth, led by King Abdulaziz International Airport in Jeddah, which accounted for 38 percent of total passenger traffic, followed by strong performance at King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh, as well as record capacity utilization at Madinah and Dammam airports. Saudi Arabia also maintained its presence among the world’s busiest air routes, highlighting the strength of its domestic and regional connectivity.
Cargo activity remained a key growth pillar, with Saudi airports handling 1.18 million tons of air freight in 2025, supported by increased private sector participation and new national carriers. Looking ahead, GACA confirmed plans to launch more than 30 new routes in 2026, alongside continued airport development and global partnerships, aligning the aviation sector with the Kingdom’s Vision 2030 and long-term logistics ambitions.
