Saudi Arabia and Syria have signed a strategic aviation agreement to launch a new joint airline, flynas Syria, marking a significant step in expanding air connectivity and civil aviation cooperation between the two countries. The venture, led by Saudi low-cost carrier Flynas with a 49 percent stake alongside the Syrian General Authority of Civil Aviation and Air Transport holding 51 percent, is expected to begin operations in late 2026. The new airline aims to restore and broaden air links across the Middle East, Europe, and Africa, helping rebuild Syria’s aviation sector after years of limited international service.

In addition to the airline launch, the agreement includes development of a major international airport in the northern city of Aleppo, designed to handle up to 12 million passengers annually and support broader economic recovery efforts. This partnership is part of a wider investment framework between the two nations, reflecting deeper economic ties and efforts to enhance regional air travel infrastructure.
