Saudi Arabia has officially launched the Expression of Interest (EOI) phase for the redevelopment of Prince Naif bin Abdulaziz International Airport in the Qassim region, under a Public Private Partnership (PPP) model. The initiative, led by MATARAT Holding in collaboration with the National Center for Privatization & PPP, invites local, regional, and international private sector participants to submit bids for a 30-year contract that will cover the airport’s design, financing, construction, operations and maintenance. The project site is located about 25 km from Buraidah, with plans for a fully equipped passenger terminal and supporting infrastructure, including runways, taxiways, and aprons.

The redevelopment of the airport is aligned with Saudi Vision 2030, and supports the country’s National Transport and Logistics Strategy, which aims to strengthen the aviation sector’s contribution to economic growth and global connectivity. Officials say the project will boost infrastructure development, improve operational efficiency, and elevate service quality for travelers while enhancing the competitiveness of regional airports. Interested investors are encouraged to request the EOI documents and submit them by February 23, 2026.
