Skyports Drone Services is entering the Saudi Arabian market through a strategic partnership with iot squared, a joint venture between Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund (PIF) and stc group. The collaboration will leverage Skyports’ expertise in beyond-visual-line-of-sight (BVLOS) drone operations for a proof-of-concept aimed at integrating drone technology into Saudi Arabia’s giga-projects. Additionally, Skyports will support the development of a BVLOS-friendly ecosystem, including iot squared’s remote command and control center.
The initiative seeks to showcase how drone technology can enhance sustainability, efficiency, and connectivity within large-scale infrastructure projects. By demonstrating real-world applications, the project aims to drive wider adoption of drone services across Saudi Arabia. Skyports’ general manager, Daniel O’Neill, highlighted the country’s progressive regulatory environment, fostered by GACA and MOT, as a key factor in unlocking new drone operation opportunities.
