King Khalid International Airport has become the first in Saudi Arabia to achieve the Airport Carbon Accreditation (Transformation Level) from the Airports Council International. This recognition was earned through efforts to transform airport operations and those of commercial partners, leading to a significant reduction in carbon emissions. The initiative aligns with the Paris Agreement and global climate change goals, reinforcing the airport’s commitment to sustainability.

The accreditation supports the Saudi Civil Aviation Environmental Sustainability Program under GACA and contributes to Saudi Vision 2030. Riyadh Airports Company is dedicated to reducing carbon emissions by 278 million tons annually by 2030 and achieving net-zero emissions by 2060. This milestone highlights the company’s ongoing efforts in environmental sustainability, pollution reduction, and climate change mitigation.
