Saudi Arabia’s air transport sector saw significant growth in 2024, with passenger numbers reaching a record 128 million. This included 59 million domestic travelers and 69 million international passengers, marking a 15% increase from 2023 and a 25% rise from pre-pandemic levels. The figures highlight the sector’s strong recovery from COVID-19 and its expanding role in global connectivity.
According to the Air Traffic 2024 Report by the General Authority of Civil Aviation (GACA), the number of flights across Saudi airports rose by 11% to 905,000, with 474,000 domestic and 431,000 international flights. Air connectivity also improved by 16%, linking the Kingdom to over 170 destinations worldwide.
The air cargo sector experienced exceptional growth, surging by 34% to surpass 1.2 million tons in 2024. The majority of cargo—1.17 million tons—was handled by the Kingdom’s three largest airports: King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh (573,000 tons), King Abdulaziz International Airport in Jeddah (461,000 tons), and King Fahd International Airport in Dammam (140,000 tons).
