Prince Saud bin Mishaal, Deputy Emir of the Makkah Region, inaugurated a new e-gates system at King Abdulaziz International Airport in Jeddah on Tuesday. The system, featuring 70 advanced e-gates, aims to streamline travel by automating check-in and departure procedures, enhancing efficiency and passenger convenience.
Powered by modern technology and artificial intelligence, the e-gates facilitate faster and more secure passenger processing. Strategically placed across Terminal No. 1 and the Executive Office facilities, they can handle up to 2,500 passengers per gate. This initiative significantly expands the airport’s capacity, allowing it to accommodate up to 175,000 travellers per day, reinforcing its role as a key aviation hub in the region.
