King Abdulaziz International Airport (JED) in Jeddah has received approval from the General Authority of Civil Aviation (GACA) to implement cross-runway takeoff operations across all three runways, becoming the first airport in Saudi Arabia to adopt this advanced capability. The approval follows the successful completion of all required national and international safety assessments, confirming the airport’s operational readiness in line with global aviation standards.

The new operations will improve runway efficiency, reduce ground delays, and enhance air traffic flow, particularly during peak periods. The initiative also supports sustainability goals by lowering fuel consumption and carbon emissions, reinforcing JED’s position as a leading aviation hub aligned with Saudi Vision 2030 and the National Transport and Logistics Strategy.
