The General Authority of Civil Aviation (GACA) has released impressive performance results for the Saudi aviation sector in the first half of 2025. From January to June, more than 66 million passengers traveled through the Kingdom’s airports — marking a 7% increase from the same period in 2024. The Kingdom’s four key airports — Riyadh, Jeddah, Dammam, and Madinah — collectively managed 85% of this traffic, supported by a 4% rise in flight activity across 463,800 flights.
The busy Hajj season in June contributed significantly to the surge, with 1.435 million pilgrims transported via 128,000 flights. Notably, one million of these pilgrims used the Luggage-Free Passenger Service, a growing innovation in airport operations. Managing the influx required the support of over 18,000 airport staff, showcasing the sector’s ability to scale and meet demand efficiently.
In a forward-looking move, a new low-cost airline was also announced, to be based at King Fahd Airport in Dammam — a strategic addition to the Kingdom’s expanding aviation ecosystem. As GACA President Abdulaziz Al-Duailej highlighted, the sector’s strong performance is directly contributing to the goals of Vision 2030, positioning Saudi Arabia as a bold, connected, and high-impact global aviation hub.
