Eastern Province Governor Prince Saud bin Naif bin Abdulaziz has unveiled comprehensive master plans for three major airports—King Fahd International (KFIA), Al-Ahsa International, and Qaisumah International—part of a broader SAR 1.6 billion infrastructure upgrade across Dammam airports. The initiative, which also includes the introduction of electronic gates to streamline passenger flows, features 77 integrated development projects aimed at elevating regional connectivity and improving traveler experience.
By 2030, KFIA is projected to cater to over 19.3 million passengers annually—more than double its 2022 traffic—with annual cargo capacity exceeding 600,000 tons, marking a tenfold increase in freight capability. The upgrades will enable up to 77 aircraft movements per hour and support a 32-million passenger yearly throughput, aligning with Saudi Vision 2030’s ambition to transform Dammam into a prominent regional logistics hub, backed by a 35% rise in passenger numbers since 2022.
