Saudi Arabia’s King Salman International Airport project is making significant progress as firms submit prequalification forms for runway construction. Managed by the King Salman International Airport Development Company (KSIADC) and backed by the Public Investment Fund, the project aims to transform Riyadh’s King Khalid International Airport into the world’s largest aviation hub. The latest phase includes prequalifying firms for the construction of a third runway, along with taxiways, to enhance operational capacity and efficiency.

Spanning 57 square kilometers, the project will feature six parallel runways and integrate existing terminals at King Khalid International Airport. It also includes 12 square kilometers of airport support facilities, recreational spaces, and logistics infrastructure. Major global firms such as Foster+Partners, Jacobs, and Mace are playing key roles in the airport’s design, runway development, and project execution, while local firm Nera is responsible for airspace design consultancy.

Expected to be completed by 2030, the airport will have the capacity to accommodate 120 million passengers annually, with projections reaching 185 million by 2050. This expansion aligns with Saudi Arabia’s vision to position Riyadh as a leading global aviation center, reinforcing its status as a key player in international air travel.
