Saudi Arabia’s Transport and Logistics Services Minister, Saleh Al-Jasser, announced that passenger traffic through Saudi airports is expected to exceed 130 million in 2025, with a goal of reaching 330 million by 2030. He also noted that direct international destinations connected to the Kingdom have doubled to around 200, compared to pre-pandemic levels, reflecting rapid growth in the aviation sector.
Al-Jasser highlighted that private-sector investments in the logistics industry have surpassed SAR 200 billion since the launch of the National Transport and Logistics Strategy, with four airports — Abha, Taif, Qassim, and Hail — currently open for privatization. He added that national airlines have confirmed over 500 new aircraft orders, alongside rising interest from foreign carriers to expand operations in the Kingdom.
He further mentioned that nearly all port investments are privately funded, with contracts exceeding SAR 20 billion signed for expansion and service projects. The minister also shared updates on the “Dream of the Desert” luxury train, developed in partnership with an Italian firm, with bookings set to open by late 2025 and operations to start before the end of 2026 — marking a new milestone in Saudi Arabia’s transport modernization.
