Swissport International AG is significantly expanding its operations in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia by launching ground handling services at seven additional airports beginning 1 June 2025. This strategic move will increase Swissport’s presence to 13 airports nationwide, adding Hail, Al Jouf, Tabuk, Yanbu, Taif, Abha, and Jizan to its existing network in Jeddah, Riyadh, Madinah, Dammam, Al-Qassim, and Al-Ula. The expansion not only marks a 50% increase in flight handling capacity from 2024 but also reinforces Swissport’s growing role in supporting the Kingdom’s aviation ambitions.

Swissport Saudi Arabia CEO Hamad Alhemede emphasized the company’s commitment to becoming a trusted partner for airlines, highlighting the consistent, high-quality ground services provided to ensure a top-tier experience for passengers. He also acknowledged the support of GACA, Matarat, and the Air Connectivity Program in enabling this expansion. While the company initially focuses on passenger and ramp handling, it plans to broaden its offerings to include cargo handling, aircraft cleaning, and lounge operations.

Dirk Goovaerts, CEO of Swissport for Continental Europe, Middle East, Africa, and India, affirmed Swissport’s alignment with Saudi Vision 2030. With Saudi Arabia aiming to welcome 330 million passengers, Swissport’s expanded footprint supports the Kingdom’s transformation into a global aviation hub. The company’s enhanced presence reflects its dedication to delivering world-class services that improve the travel experience and strengthen international connectivity.
