Saudi Arabia’s Matarat Holding and the National Center for Privatization & PPP (NCP) have launched a request for proposals for the development of the new Taif International Airport under a public-private partnership model. The project will be delivered through a 30-year build-transfer-operate contract and will be open to private sector bidders.
Aligned with Vision 2030, the new airport supports the Kingdom’s aviation growth goals and its ambition to become a global logistics hub connecting three continents. Located 21 km southeast of the current Taif Airport, the new facility is designed to accommodate around 2.5 million passengers by 2030 and meet growing demand through 2055.
The project will include a runway with a full-length parallel taxiway, a commercial apron, a passenger terminal, support facilities, utility networks, car parks, and access roads. It is also expected to serve Umrah pilgrims and strengthen Taif’s role within the region’s multi-airport system, while contributing to the economic development of the city and surrounding areas.
