King Abdulaziz International Airport in Jeddah has reached a historic milestone, welcoming 53.4 million passengers in a single year—the highest volume ever recorded at a Saudi airport. The achievement places Jeddah firmly among the world’s mega airports and reflects its growing importance in global passenger traffic. Over the same period, the airport handled 310,000 flights, processed 60.4 million bags—up 12% year-on-year—and managed large-scale operations including Zamzam water distribution and air cargo movements.
The record performance highlights the airport’s transformation into a leading regional hub and a vital national gateway, supporting the movement of pilgrims and international visitors while advancing tourism and economic diversification under Saudi Vision 2030. Jeddah Airports Company CEO Eng. Mazen Johar described the milestone as a clear sign of high operational readiness and a foundation for future growth, with passenger numbers expected to potentially double in the coming years.
Ongoing expansions, capacity upgrades, and service enhancements are strengthening King Abdulaziz International Airport’s competitive position in the regional aviation landscape. Johar credited the achievement to strong leadership and close collaboration across government and private-sector partners, reinforcing the airport’s commitment to delivering a world-class travel experience.
