Saudi Arabia’s aviation sector played a vital role in the Kingdom’s economic development in 2023, contributing $90.6 billion—equivalent to 8.5% of GDP—and supporting 4 million jobs, according to a new IATA report.
The report, The Value of Air Transport in Saudi Arabia, highlights aviation’s growing influence under Vision 2030, with strategic focus on global standards, cost-competitive infrastructure, and workforce development. In 2023, Saudi Arabia also handled over 713,000 tonnes of air cargo, cementing its role as an emerging logistics powerhouse in the region.
As investments in airport infrastructure and aviation talent continue, the sector is set to play an even greater role in driving national prosperity and global connectivity.
The impact will be on full display at Global Airports Forum 2025 in Riyadh, where industry leaders and innovators will gather to explore the Kingdom’s rapidly evolving aviation landscape.
