Jeddah’s King Abdulaziz International Airport is setting a bold growth target: more than 90 million passengers a year by 2030. To reach that scale, Jeddah Airports Company is exploring expansion plans with Singapore-based infrastructure consultancy Surbana Jurong, signaling a major push to strengthen the airport’s role as a regional aviation powerhouse. The plan also points to broader ambitions beyond passenger growth, including a network of more than 150 destinations, 15 million transit passengers, and cargo capacity of 2.5 million tonnes.

What makes this expansion especially significant is its wider impact on Saudi Arabia’s aviation future. Alongside infrastructure growth, the discussions include talent development initiatives for Saudi nationals in engineering, infrastructure, and project management, helping build local expertise for the Kingdom’s next phase of aviation development. With Jeddah already standing as Saudi Arabia’s busiest airport, this expansion could further cement its position as a key gateway for tourism, transit, and trade across the region.
