King Fahd International Airport in Dammam has implemented a cutting-edge Category III Instrument Landing System (ILS)—the first of its kind in Saudi Arabia—enabling aircraft to land automatically in low-visibility and foggy conditions. The advanced navigation upgrade enhances safety, operational efficiency, and flight continuity, marking a major step forward for airport facilities in the Eastern Province.
The new system was inaugurated at the airport’s General Aviation Terminal, further strengthening the region’s aviation capabilities and supporting reliable air travel service even in challenging weather conditions.
