Eng. Maryam Sadiq
First Emirati military engineer working in Dubai Police in the field of maintaining airport security machines, such as X-ray screening machines, metal detectors, security wands, and explosive detection devices, with 10 years of experience, I have led transformative initiatives, including the integration of AI into maintenance processes. This advancement has enabled early detection and resolution of potential failures, reducing machine downtime and enhancing the reliability and safety of aviation security and airport operations.
These devices are essential as they represent the first line of defense for passengers transitioning from the land side to the air side of the airport. Ensuring precision in the calibration and maintenance of this technology is vital for detecting and preventing the introduction of sharp objects, prohibited materials, and illegal items on board, thus safeguarding aviation security from unlawful interventions. Additionally, I ensure that these devices operate efficiently and comply with ICAO and IATA standards to guarantee the highest levels of safety. I am also responsible for testing these devices for their effectiveness in detecting chemicals and explosives before their adoption for use in Dubai airports. Furthermore, I am internationally certified by Smith Detection for maintaining these airport inspection devices, significantly contributing to national airport security. I hold a Bachelor's Degree in Electrical and Electronic Engineering, a master's degree in Data Analysis and Programming with a focus on AI, and I am currently nearing the completion of my Ph.D. in Engineering Management in the UK. I am proud to be an inspiration for others to pursue their goals in traditionally male-dominated fields.
