
Dr. Dan Wong, Ph.D. MITE
Originally from the USA, Dr. Wong is an Associate Professor and the Aviation Management Program Leader at Prince Sultan University in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. He has previously served as:
Deputy Head of Department overseeing aviation, transportation, and logistics programs at the Modern College of Business and Science in Muscat, Oman (2017-2019);
Assistant Professor - Aviation Management at Prince Sultan University in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia (2014-2017);
Visiting Assistant Aviation Professor at the University of Central Missouri in Warrensburg, Missouri (2013-2014).
Before being conferred a Ph.D. degree in 2013 from Queensland University of Technology in Brisbane, Australia, Dr. Wong was a 20+ year veteran landside operations planning administrator with the San Francisco International Airport. He holds a Master of Urban Planning degree from San Jose State University (1985) and a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science/Public Service from the University of California, Davis (1980). He frequently speaks at international academic and industry conferences on contemporary airport issues. Dr. Wong has been published in both academic and trade publications.
Dr. Wong has previously been the Airports Committee Chair for the American Planning Association – Transportation Planning Division, a member of the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Airport Land Use Compatibility Planning Advisory Committee, and a subject matter panelist with the Transportation Research Board (TRB) Airport Cooperative Research Program. He currently is serving his third 3-year term as the only member representing the MENA region on the TRB’s AV050 Standing Committee on Airport Terminals and Ground Access, the American Association of Airport Executives’ Academic Relations Committee, the Institute of Transportation Engineering, the University Aviation Association, and the American Planning Association – Transportation Planning Division.
Dr. Wong is married to his wife, Donna, and they have one daughter, three grandchildren, and three rescue dogs. They enjoy traveling the world and exploring unique and different cultures.
